Yes...the fact that he didn't use blankets says much about him and his way of thinking. I will still keep saying how I can tell he's going to be artistic, especially architecually like his dad :)
My boys "liked" legos but they never "loved" legos where it consumed their world....but I do know the expense. Had a couple Christmases/birthdays evolved around them :) It gets even worse when they get into the little kits to make cars etc. Does he have any Kinex yet? I'm sure he would love those also...plus you due to the diagonal possibilities :)

i am glad i managed to buy a lot of lego kits on sales recently, when there were selling separate bricks on weight, really chip.
