I love this picture :) Is it upside down? What is it from? :)
I was wondering if I could ask you a favor?! :/
A couple of us came across rhyming_pics and since it was in a different language and we liked the idea we started photo_echoes. I'm not sure you should look at it right now since a lot of the pictures are missing due to the fact my host is broken at the moment, but here's the favor :)....
Would you be able to interpret the directions to that community for us and give them to me? It seems that yours doesn't use any comments, just pictures and when we polled our members a majority wanted the comments...I actually seem to like the way yours turns out better. I'm kind of curious how much different your rules are than what we ended up making them and then I can tell my other moderator :)
true, it is an upside down pic, but i take this easy… the point of these photos is to transform them into photo-graphical visuals... if this achieved, then everything goes.
it is a balcony... it was called 'broken chocolate' by one of the lj-friends, and i like the name. and by the way, it is not so bad being put 'normal' too.
as for the rhyming_pics... as you may notice, its rules are yet to be determined ^_^... to my knowledge there are no signs even that this will be accomplished any time soon. we just play.
yours community is much better organized, respect! i like it, and would like to join at some point, and get an echo or two. and you put it all right, i think i would agree with nearly everything in your comm’s description.
since there are only a few people who are playing actively in rhyming_pics..., it resembles a small home party rather than a real 'community'... i don't recall any particularly 'actions' by a moderator...
and as in every small group, it is more about a mix of certain personalities rather then rules. so the way to get an idea what’s it all about is just to have a look on the 'old' games, perhaps even try yourself.
comments vs no comments... there are some comments there, sometimes… but you are right, they are very rare... i think, the idea is that pictures speak for themselves (supposedly so). which in fact may even help in making this community more 'international'.
you called it 'russian' but this was not an intention - it just happened to be that the founders' language is russian... we all live outside russia, though.
needless to say, you are welcome to join and just get the 'experience'... perhaps even modify the (still to be written) 'rules'.
by the way, there was another similar community established, foto_link… they were simply unaware that rhyming_pics exist...
i would love to 'play' in all of these comms, but in practice there is no time : ( even for one : ((
I will have to try the visual transformation sometime, it does turn out cool but you do seem to be the pro in the matter :) Very nice and I am sure it looks great "normal" too :)
First off...I do feel a bit stupid at the moment, I didn't realize there was any English in the info page... also... I didn't realize that you're the one that started it... (I hadn't looked at it in a while :/) I guess it worked out well though because I got to get your input :)
I just went to foto_link and I have to say I don't like it nearly as well as yours....
I have already joined the rhyming_pics and was actually playing it the other night :) I had fun and as you said "the pictures speak for themselves" :) I wanted to head ours in that direction but wasn't sure what others would think so we decided to post a poll. The majority said they would rather have comments. So, I guess as long as they post pictures that's all that matters, maybe ours will be somewhere in between :)
I think I would keep yours as it is... I really do like it and your other good point is it's more international, it was cool that I was playing with people who I didn't even speak the same language with and I'm pretty sure someone else from ours posted there too after hearing about it:) I actually think not having specific rules and just having the actual idea may make it better, I think ours started out being more fun and uninhibited before we starting talking about the rules.
Well, maybe we'll see you someday... I certainly understand about having too much to do :)
Where exactly are you from? Is the main language there Russian?
PS I would refer you to the post I was playing on rhyming_pics but my host went bad and I deleted my pics so the broken links wouldn't annoy anyone. We went back and forth several times too, I feel bad for whoever I was playing with)
Very interesting :) It seems that I usually meet someone here from the UK, Australia, Germany etc as far as other countries go. I'm glad that you are one that's able to connect to the internet. It is strange but a lot of us take things for granted, such as censorship.
You surely must have seen many changes in the last years! I am happy for your country and the people for gaining more freedom in your lives.
I am about as bad in politics as I am geography but just reading what I have it made me realize how much us Americans don't know about what's going on over there (or in many places for that matter). It really is nice to meet someone personally to get their perspective in a more personal way than just the bare minimun news.
I joined your community, I do find it very interesting to learn about another culture in such a way :)
Love the Baskin Robbins pic :)
I feel awkward asking this but are you a man or a woman? That's the only thing about LJ sometimes....it's hard to tell :)
