Мне как раз утром попалась на глаза статья из Cognitive Daily, про исследования пациентов с разделённым полушариями - никак тут тоже "не без этого".

(В том видео, про corpus callosum, есть хорошая цитата: Mind is made up of a constellation of a independent, or semi-independent agents, and these agents, these processes can carry on a vast amount of activities outside of our conscious awareness. [But] even that goes on, at some final stage, a final system - I think it happens in left hemisphere - pulls all that information together, into a theory. It has to generate a theory to explain all of these independent elements. And that theory becomes our theory of ourselves, and of the world. - так вот, я не понимаю, почему он не спрашивает себя, почему это it has to generate.

Например, можно представить себе культуры, в которых подобный профессор говорит It has to maintain a dynamic equilibrium of these multiple independent elements that together create a beautiful dance of consciouness. И в которых, например, единство личности считается серьёзным психологическим нарушением.
