Photo of The West Fjords, a series of peninsulas in northwestern Iceland. They represent less than one-eighth the country's land area but their jagged perimeter accounts for more than half of the country's total coastline.

Pictures of the earth beamed back by satellite are an important tool for the military, but the Library of Congress says they can also be art. Images from Landsat7 are on show in an exhibit called 'Earth as Art,' at the Geography and Map Division until July, 2003.
