"The Bush administration is preparing plans for possible lifetime detention of suspected terrorists, including hundreds whom the government does not have enough evidence to charge in courts.

Citing intelligence, defense and diplomatic officials, The Washington Post said the Pentagon and the CIA had asked the White House to decide on a "more permanent approach" for those it would not set free or turn over to courts at home or abroad.

"Since global war on terror is a long-term effort, it makes sense for us to be looking at solutions for long-term problems," said Bryan Whitman, a Pentagon spokesman. - US to Mull Lifetime Terror-Suspect Detentions

This country has become a gross insult to civilization and a destabilizing factor for the international good order.
Hopefully they'll collapse soon enough, or will find themselves in complete isolation before they can cause further harm.
The land of the free. The finest of the finest. Gotta love them. These bloody ignorants. They asked for 4 more years.

ps: I watched Das Experiment yesterday night,
which makes me all the more convinced that such outlaw camps
feed the most primitive human instincts and can only degenerate. A-la Abu Grahib.

not by much, and even that is doubtful, with election irregularities and whatnot. anyways, it's kind of like calling all iraqis scum because saddam was.

i might also point out that your president threatened to nuke greenpeace protesters who were blocking tests in the south pacific. we don't have a lock on evil leaders, we're just bigger than everyone else.

i would like to hope that our courts will not allow this. they have already showed a tendency to rein in some of the bush administration's worst excesses.

what really pisses me off is that the lack of evidence is really the lack of admissible evidence. because of their tactics in questioning and detaining these people, nothing they have will pass constitutional muster in a court. so, because they were too impatient to get evidence the proper way, we either have to release dangerous terrorists or permit the detention of innocent people. that is an unacceptable choice.
